Planning on taking a weekend trip out of town, or flying overseas for a family vacation? 3Rivers is here for you, no matter where you go! Here are a few things to note to ensure all goes smoothly on the financial front while you’re away from home.

Let Us Know About Your Travel Plans

Spending pattern changes (your card being used in places it isn’t normally, more frequently, or for higher amounts) can raise a red flag in our systems, which may result in protective account measures, such as your card being denied at the point of purchase. To prevent false alarms, simply give us a heads up about your travel plans. Let us know the location and duration of your travels and make sure we have your current contact information.

Access Thousands of Shared Branches & ATMs While Traveling

Did you know that you can do your 3Rivers banking at thousands of shared credit union branches throughout the United States? We’re a part of a massive network of nationwide shared branches and shared ATMs. That means that 3Rivers members can walk into a shared credit union branch and conduct any action (deposits, withdrawals, etc.) that you would do at your home branch, free of charge

Note that you’ll need to have the following available:

  • Your 3Rivers member number (or social security number)
  • A valid photo ID

Additionally, ATMs in the shared branch network will allow you to use them at no cost to you!

Buy & Sell Foreign Currency

Exchanging money at the airport may be convenient, but may also include expensive exchange rates and fees. To order foreign currency through 3Rivers, visit any of our branches or give us a call at 800.825.3641.

A few things to note about ordering foreign currency from 3Rivers:

  • You must be a 3Rivers member to buy and/or sell foreign currency.
  • We’ll only accept foreign bills that are currently in circulation; coins are not accepted or sold.
  • Delivery:
    - Orders made before 4 PM EST are delivered next business day by 4 PM EST to the selected branch.
    - Expedited shipping is available (next day before 12 PM EST).
    - Orders made after 4 PM EST are delivered within two (2) business days.
  • Fees:
    - There is a $5 nonrefundable service fee for all orders (both buy and sell requests).
    - An additional $15 service fee will be added for orders under $500.
    - An additional $15 service fee will be applied expedited shipping.
